Churu: In the infamous gang rape case in Sardarshahr police station, 9 police officers including SHO were already suspended, now, 26 more police officials involved in the case are sent to lines. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had ordered that whenever such incident takes place, the action would not only restrict to the culprit officer but on the whole police station. Owing to this, the action has been taken.
A complaint against police personnel, including the SHO Ranbir Sai was lodged accusing them of gang rape and detention of a Dalit woman in non-judicial custody. The case is being investigated by ASP Seema Bharti of CID-CB Jaipur. All the accused policemen have been suspended until the investigation gets completed. The then SHO Ranveer Sai has demanded a DNA investigation of the accused officers including himself. All preparations for the test have been made by the investigation team. The family of the deceased has asked for a CBI probe in the matter.

This is not the first instance when Rajasthan police has brought shame to the state. During Lok Sabha polls, a Dalit woman was gang raped in Alwar district but due to no prompt action from the police, the culprits made the spread the gang rape video on social media. When pressure was mounted on the police and the government, the rapists were arrested and actions were taken on the ignorant police officers.
In the past: Sardarshahr police had arrested a man on the charge of theft in the month of July. The young man died in custody due to police torture on July 6. The case took a drastic turn on July 12 when the deceased man’s sister-in-law, the sole witness in the case, filed an FIR of being gang raped by 6 police officers of the station. The family had accused police officers of raping the woman to cover the case.
