Jaipur: The BJP has started preparations for the upcoming elections of Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) after the recent defeat in the elections of 49 municipal bodies. For the preparation of Panchayati Raj elections, a meeting of BJP organisation office bearers was held on Tuesday at the BJP state headquarters to decide strategy of the polls. The party officials have been instructed to go on field and prepare a road map.
The meeting was addressed by BJP National Joint Secretary (Organisation) V Satish, State President Satish Poonia and State General Secretary (Organisation) Chandrasekhar. Senior leaders and office bearers of the state and various district units of the BJP attended the meeting.
Party officials were instructed to prepare for the upcoming PRI elections instead of being disappointed by the defeat of the civic body elections. Senior leaders said that for party’s victory in the upcoming elections, all have to exert their full strength. What should be the party’s strategy in these elections in rural areas? For this, all the officials should go to their respective areas and prepare a roadmap.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Poonia said that the activities of the organisation are going on along with the civic body and the panchayat elections. The party has fully prepared for upcoming polls.
Speaking on Khadi, Poonia said that the spirit of Khadi connects the country. Once upon a time, Khadi of Bengal was also popular in Rajasthan and other states. An exemption should be retained on khadi coming from other states.
Poonia also condemned the statement of Energy Minister BD Kalla in which he had blamed the growing influence of the internet in rape incidents. Poonia said that in democracy, the internet cannot be banned, but a Minister is making new statements to protect the government against such incidents. “Preventing such incidents is the responsibility of any public welfare government and the current Gehlot government cannot avoid it. There is a need for social consciousness to prevent such incidents but the strong will is required in governments.
Poonia writes to Speaker
BJP state president Satish Poonia has written a letter to Assembly Speaker Dr CP Joshi on Tuesday where he has requested him to convene a Special Session of the Assembly to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and the increasing crime against women and Dalits. Poonia wrote in the letter that in the last one year, crimes have increased by one and a half times in Rajasthan. At the same time, the increase in incidents of rape of women and girls is worrying for the state. Government is unable to handle law and order in the state and so it becomes the moral responsibility of the Legislature to control crime and to take strict action.
