Chudi chamke tere sang

The desert state is full of art, culture, traditions and talented people and among them, this girl from Sikar is earning name and fame in the city of dreams, Mumbai, with her dedication and enthusiasm. In a conversation with City First, the young and talented singer and actor, Aakanksha Sharma, shared her journey during her recent visit to Jaipur for the shoot of her upcoming Rajasthani Folk Song ‘Chudi Chamke Re’. She said, “With the thought of promoting Rajasthani folk music, I have produced and recreated the video and also acted in it.”

Aakanksha has been singing since childhood and gave her first performance at the age of 10. She got fame from the popular Rajasthani song ‘Kajaliyo’ and has also bagged the winning title in the reality show ‘Voice of India’ in 2010. Later in 2012, she was among the finalists in the show ‘Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar’.

While talking about her career, she said, “I was struggling hard to get work after doing reality shows and at one point, I broke down. But, then I met Anurag Bedi who gave me a break in Bollywood with the song ‘Tu Alvida’ from the movie ‘Traffic’, which was written by Mithoon.”

After her debut, she sang songs with the artists like Arijit Singh, Jubin Nautiyal, Javed Ali and Ayushmann Khurrana among others for the movies like Rustom, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, Andhadhun, Gold and more. Her latest release ‘Tere Sang’ was with Arijit for the movie ‘Satellite Shankar’.

Aakanksha has also been offered roles in South Indian movies and TV serials but she prefers to sing. On being asked of what would be her choice of an acting role, she said, “I would love to do a positive role, maybe a Biopic of a person who has contributed towards our nation.”
