Daughters are always a lucky charm: Vaibhav Gehlot

Jodhpur: General Secretary of Rajasthan PCC and newly elected president of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) Vaibhav Gehlot was given a warm welcome on his arrival in his home district Jodhpur on Saturday. When Vaibhav reached Jodhpur airport, congressmen raised slogans in support of Vaibhav Gehlot and Ashok Gehlot while team of Jodhpur cricket association also reached to welcome him. Congress workers and a team of cricketers led by Chairman of sports cell of Congress, Lalit Surana reached airport to welcome Vaibhav.

While speaking to First India News, Vaibhav expressed confidence that based on his discussion with CP Joshi regarding the development of Barkatullah Khan stadium and necessary preparations needed for match, one match can be shifted to Jodhpur. Seeing body language of Vaibhav, it can be assumed that in the year 2020, Jodhpur may host one IPL match.

Your daughter has proven to be a lucky charm for you?

Daughters are always a lucky charm. Definitely, Kashmin has always been lucky for me, be it the time of nomination or election.

It is a big challenge and responsibility, how long can one expect for the sun to rise in Jodhpur in the year 2020, will the city get one IPL match?

We had made efforts between 2008-2013 that IPL matches should take place in Jodhpur but due to some reasons, it couldn’t be done. In the coming times, there are possibilities that we will bring IPL in Jodhpur. Earlier, there wasn’t proper facility of night matches in Barkatullah Khan stadium. Since BCCI has condition of day and night matches, it couldn’t be fulfilled and matches could not be organised. I have no intention for contesting for any post in BCCI. I would only continue to represent RCA in BCCI.

Along with work, affection and blessings of people, grace of ‘mata rani’ has been there. So have you come here to express your gratitude?

May the blessings of ‘mata rani’ be always there with everyone. Whenever I get time, I visit Sachiya Mata Temple in Osian to pray for the prosperity of the people of the state.

During Assembly and Lok Sabha polls, the Chief Minister had made promises for Jodhpur. You have also made promises for the development of Jodhpur and of the stadium, now when should we expect the golden picture to come out?

The talks of a new stadium in Jaipur were in process before which had stopped. It will now move forward along with the development of Jodhpur’s Barkatullah Khan stadium. The home ground of Rajasthan Royals is Rajasthan and the Chief Minister during election campaign had said about how the shifting of IPL matches, CP Joshi has also been an inspiration for bringing matches to Jodhpur. In the coming times, there are full possibilities of having matches here.

You have received a warm welcome in Jodhpur, now can a good news regarding an international match or IPL in 2020 be expected from your side?

I have said that there are full possibilities and everyone will see how this will be accomplished.
