Diggi Palace won’t be JLF 2020 venue?

Jaipur: Chief Secretary DB Gupta held a meeting in connection with Jaipur Literature Festival and reviewed the preparations for the same. Gupta instructed that 2-3 options are being considered for the new venue to host the Fest and one of those would be finalised.

However, the meeting held on Tuesday was unofficial and an official meeting is scheduled on December 19.

The meeting was held to discuss various topics like the event venue and whether the event will be organised by the government, heritage foundation or privately.

The government is looking to change the venue due to traffic, parking and other issues that emerged in the past during the five day annual event. Principal Secretary Shreya Guha, Retired IAS officer Naveen Chawla and JLF organisers were present in the meeting.

Later CS also held a meeting regarding the construction of Rajasthan International Centre was also held in the Secretariat on Tuesday. In the meeting, while directing the JDA to complete the construction through PPP or bank loan, it was clearly stated that the state government would not give any amount in it. However, if the JDA takes a loan, the government will provide a bank guarantee.

The construction is believed to cost about Rs100 crore and JDA is saying that it was decided to provide a 50-50% amount and JDA has spent 50%. Gupta has directed JDA to prepare a detailed plan in the matter and find a way to resolve the problem soon. Principal Secretary Bhaskar Sawant, JDC T Ravikant and other officials were present at the meeting.
