Dilo me hoke Malang

Bollywood director Mohit Suri in an exclusive interview with City First about his latest film Malang

Bollywood romantic-action-thriller film, Malang, directed by Mohit Suri and featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Khemu did really well in its first-weekend box-office making a whooping Rs. 25.36 crores. Talking about the film’s success, Mohit Suri spoke about his experience on-shoot and a few insiders about the same, in an exclusive interview with City First on Monday.

On being asked about his experience shooting for the film, Mohit said, “It was really unusual. When you have an extremely crazy cast, you tend to enjoy every moment of the shoot. The entire experience was crazier and edgier, as the cast was really lovely.”

Mohit always focuses on selecting the most appropriate cast for his films. To this, he said, “I never cast anyone with their market perception; I cast whoever is perfect for the role. I always felt that Adi (Aditya Roy Kapur) was perfect for it, who also had an aptitude for action and not just romance. Similarly, Anil Sir (Anil Kapoor) had played such roles in the past, and I wanted him to go back in time as he currently plays roles of a father or an uncle, and talking about Disha, she’s a very popular face, but has not really made a lot of screen appearance.”

The director does not stand by nepotism at all and stating about the same, he mentioned, “Nepotism has its plus and minus. If we talk about Alia, even if she wasn’t Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter, she would have made it big in this industry because of the wonderful actor that she is, and the same goes for Sara. If we look at Kartik here, he has come from an interior of India and is doing exceptionally well.”

During the interview, Mohit said that is favourite genre is romance, any day. “Even my thriller has a love story in it,” he said. Mohit is working on his next film ‘Villain 2’ which will have a fresher cast than the last one and will feature Aditya Roy Kapur and John Abraham.
