Actor-singer Suyyash Rai, who was in Jaipur for the promotion of his upcoming music video ‘Khoobseerat’, shared about his journey and upcoming projects In an exclusive interview with City First.
“I was born in Allahabad and grew up under the shadow of my grandmother. But after she passed away, I moved to Chandigarh where I started finding myself. I began my journey as a cricketer back in 6th grade, but because of an injury in my first year of college, I had to quit playing. I did not know what to do next as cricket was all I had known all my life. I was even kicked out of college because of my grades. That is when I auditioned for ‘Roadies’. It did not work out but then ‘Splitsvilla’ happened which was a huge jump for me. There was no looking back after that. I did a lot of TV shows but ‘Pyaar ki ye Ek Kahaani’ was my debut as an actor and became my identity. That’s where I met my wife Kishwar,” said the ‘Khushnuma’ singer.
Sharing about his journey as a singer, Suyyash said, “Even though I was an actor, I always wanted to put my song as my caller tune and I came up with ‘Khushnuma’. It was purely out of my love for music and it came out amazingly well. Then I did ‘Beparwaiyan’ which got me recognition as a musician.”
Talking about his upcoming music video, the ‘Beparwaiyan’ singer said, “’Khoobseerat’ is my first Punjabi track. The lyrics are written by one of the finest writers Dhruv Yogi and he’s just brilliant. I am also making music for a few films and web series.”
Suyyash will be next seen playing the villain in an upcoming film ‘Aadat’, starring Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover.
