Ahmedabad: In order to achieve its ultimate target of making the Naroda industrial estate air and water pollution-free, Naroda Enviro Projects Ltd plans to go eco-friendly. One of the major objectives of this move is to promote long-term sustainable growth. The organization seeks to set up a solar park in Naroda and a windmill in Dwarka, which will reduce the industrial estate’s dependency on power distribution companies.
Shailesh Patwari, president of Naroda Enviro Projects Ltd told First India, “We wish to make the industrial estate eco-friendly, where solid waste will be disposed of properly. In order to facilitate this, the company has initiated door-to-door solid waste collection from 1,300 units. For effluent disposal, we have set up an effluent treatment plant, where six million litres per day (MLD) of discharge is being treated.”
He added: “Apart from the industrial estate, the company is also providing 800 households in the estate with potable water at monthly charges ranging from Rs30 to Rs50.”
The estate also houses a primary dispensary that provides medical care to 16,000 to 17,000 patients annually at very nominal charges.
“In order to be self-reliant when it comes to power generation and also contribute to the country’s renewable energy share, the windmill in Dwarka, to be established at an investment of Rs6.50 crore, will generate 1.25MW power,” claimed Patwari.
The organization also plans to set up a 600KV solar park in Naroda at an investment of Rs3 crore.
