Rupani assures State’s participation in IIF at Tashkent

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has successfully been able to develop business relations and strategic ties with other countries. To further strengthen the relations, a delegation of the Uzbekistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries met the Chief Minister on Saturday.

The delegation also invited State’s industrialists to participate in International Investment Forum (IIF) scheduled to take place in March at Tashkent.

The delegation, which was led by the Uzbekistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries President Ikramov Adkham Ilkhamovich, discussed the plan of IIF with Rupani. They invited him and also requested to send a delegation of industrialists to participate. State’s Industrial Extension Bureau Managing Director Neelam Rani was also present at the meeting.

The Chief Minister accepted the invitation and assured to send representatives from the agriculture, mining, and solar power sectors at the IIF event.

During the discussions, Rupani fondly recalled his visit to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and his meeting with the Governors of the three provinces. After his visit, a Gujarat delegation visited Uzbekistan and have signed agreements with the government for 59 projects. He also assured the delegation that the State Government will follow up and see to it that all these projects are completed and operational.

Recently, when Rupani was in Delhi to campaign for the party candidates, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to India Farhod Arziev called on him and discussed increasing trade and investment relations between Uzbekistan and Gujarat.

The Chief Minister had visited Uzbekistan in October last to participate in the First Investment Summit. The summit was organised at Andijan. Andijan and Gujarat have decided to develop mutual cooperation in trade and industry. In the beginning of 2019, Uzbekistan delegates had participated in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, when they had signed memorandum for partnership. Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was guest at the event and he had signed the MoU.

Then the Uzbekistan government had requested the State Government to help in planning and organising summits like Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Uzbekistan. After this, state officials had gone to Uzbekistan and guided them on planning and execution of such summit. From Gujarat side, industrialists are keen to invest in pharmaceutical, textiles, education, information and technology and tourism in Uzbekistan.
