Imbibe Bapu’s ideals to eliminate intolerance: Gehlot

Jaipur: Mahatma Gandhi’s principles are the solution to the prevailing climate of intolerance and violence. People need to imbibe these to save the country, said Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday, reiterating his commitment to Gandhian ideals.

“We should adopt Gandhiji’s principles with heart and soul,” he exhorted the gathering at the inauguration of the new building of Rajasthan Khadi Sangh in Bapu Nagar. The Chief Minister unveiled a Gandhi statue on the occasion.

CM Gehlot said that his government had extended Gandhiji’s 150th anniversary programmes for a year so that his message could reach people.

“Our government will not leave any stone unturned to maintain peace, harmony, love and brotherhood in the state,” he added.

The promotion of the Khadi industry was his government’s priority, he asserted. The state government had decided to give 50 per cent discount on Khadi products to connect the youth to Khadi and provide support to workers, he said.

“Gandhiji’s dream was gram swaraj through Khadi and village industries. He used to say that Khadi is not just a cloth but a thought,” the Chief Minister said, adding he had personal attachment to the hand-spun cloth.

The CM also felicitated Khadi workers Wali Mohammed and Rukmani Devi for their exceptional work.

Rajasthan Khadi Sangh, Khadibagh’s mantri Ganpat Singh apprised CM Gehlot of the sangh’s activities.

Additional Chief Secretary of industry and MSME department Subodh Avgarwal and former MLA of Chomu Bhagwan Sahay Saini, Rajasthan Khadi Sangh’s president Nanagram Lamba and Khadi Sangh member Rambharosi Gupta were also present.
