Jodhpur cops give thumbs up to CM’s orders

Jodhpur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s instructions to improve the policing system in the state have been appropriately responded by Jodhpur Police.

On the CM’s instructions of making new reception areas in each police station of the district, 11 out of 13 police stations are now flaunting their new “arenas”.

Envisioning problems faced by people in approaching the police and to make police “people-friendly”, CM Gehlot had suggested various measures, of which a new welcoming reception has been completed by the Jodhpur West police.

On Friday, several legislators called upon CM Gehlot at CMR, including Sirohi MLA Sanyam Lodha who shared his ideas/views on the upcoming local body elections.

It is reported that Lodha has requested the CM to hold direct election for local bodies. Notably, the decision on direct or indirect election in local bodies will be taken in the cabinet meeting on October 14 when UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal will table a report in this regard.

It is reported that apart from the ministers, Gehlot is taking feedback from MLAs as well over whether or not to hold the local body elections directly or indirectly.

Meanwhile, Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary is scheduled to meet CM Ashok Gehlot on Saturday morning at the CMR. Choudhary is in Jaipur with his wife and will leave on Saturday for Delhi prior to which a meeting with Gehlot is scheduled.

Moreover, after the meeting, CM Gehlot could leave for Sikar to take part in a few functions like inaugurating the Parishad Bhawan.
