Mass marriage: More people should take such initiative

Alwar: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot visited Alwar on Friday, where he attended a mass wedding ceremony held at Angari village in Thanagazi. A total of 140 couples got married during this event.

Deputy CM Sachin Pilot also reached the function but addressed the people before CM arrived and returned after blessing the newly married couples.

The marriage of Lokesh, son of Thanagazi MLA Kanti Lal Meena, also took place in the mass marriage ceremony, which was applauded by CM Gehlot as a great start. Kanti Lal has married his 2 other children too in a mass wedding ceremony in the past.

CM repeatedly lauded the initiative of MLA Meena from the stage and said that more people should come forward to take such an initiative. In his address, CM said that the situation in the country is bad, the economic situation has deteriorated and there are no jobs. In such a state of affairs, there is more need for these mass wedding ceremonies. Moreover, the wedding of 140 couples together is a big thing.

Four different demands were made by MLA Kanti Meena, on which the CM said that there is a wedding ceremony going, but we will still take these into consideration. Gehlot then made announcements regarding making Tehla a Tehsil, building CHC in Pratapgarh and opening PHC in Neemla and Basai Jogiyan.

Former Union Minister Jitendra Singh, MoS Tikaram Juli, Minister incharge of Alwar Mamta Bhupesh, MLAs Safia Khan, Deepchand Kheriya, Murari Lal, Shakuntala Rawat and former MP Dr Karan Singh Yadav were also present.
