Jodhpur: The HC on Friday refused to put a stay on the release of actor Manoj Bajpayee’s latest film Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai, which is based on the biography of Asaram. Asaram is serving life imprisonment in Jodhpur’s Central Jail for sexually assaulting a minor girl student of his ashram. A petition was filed by petitioner Om Prakash seeking to stop the release of the film, stating that the film portrays Asaram in a negative light. In the hearing held in the High Court on May 23, the HC had reserved its decision.

Justice PS Bhati said that at present notices have been issued to all the parties and their reply is awaited.
