Kareena Kapoor says excessive trolling is the reason behind her absence on Twitter

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Kareena Kapoor Khan was subjected to massive trolling for calling Forrest Gump “elitist and classist”. Twitterati flooded the social media dragging the actress’ name for days. Her implication that the majority of the country may not have watched the cult classic Hollywood film did not go down well with netizens. Kareena now stars in the official Hindi remake of Forrest Gump, named Laal Singh Chaddha.

In a recent interview with News18, the Heroine actress revealed the above reason why she is not on Twitter. Kareena revealed that she was not aware of the massive reaction her statements received. She said, “Every day, there’s one reason or the other for which we’re trolled. That’s why I’m not on Twitter. I feel like it’s for people who just want to keep venting and I don’t have time for that. I’m very busy with my kids, family and work. I don’t have time for all this.”

Elaborating on why she made the statement, Kareena replied, “Somebody who probably doesn’t speak English is going to watch the film for their love of the story which they’ve come to know from the trailer and not because it’s a remake of a Hollywood film. It’s being dubbed in Tamil and Telugu too so that people can watch and enjoy it in their own language, and there’s nothing wrong in that. Not everyone in the world would have seen Forrest Gump!”

Forrest Gump, directed by Advait Chauhan, stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya and will release in theatres on August 11. The film is based on the 1994 Hollywood cult classic, Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.
