Ankit Desai released his new novel: In which pandemic and fake activism have been discussed

Well-known Gujarati writer and prominent speaker Ankit Desai has recently launched his 6th novel, 'The Weekend Wife', which is receiving a very enthusiastic response from readers across the globe. This novel is based on times during the Covid pandemic and the agitations related to the previously discussed NRC and CAA bills.

This novel, with a very different subject and name, is a love story, but here mainly, the relationship between the father and his son is presented in a unique way. The story of how the protagonist loses his father, along with the description of the country-wide cry for oxygen, beds and injections during the second wave of Corona, is very heart-wrenching. So the agitations that took place against NRC and CAA in Delhi before Corona also run parallel in this story, in which the author has highlighted fake activism.

About this novel, Ankit Desai says, 'Hearing the name The Weekend Wife, everyone wonders why this name? Will there be a weekend culture in this novel? But no, this narrative takes the weekend as a symbol of a relationship, where a segment of today's urban class has become highly selective about responsibilities in relationships. "I have created this story focusing on the lack of responsibility in relationships, in which I have discussed the unique relationship between father and son, keeping the backdrop of the Corona period and Delhi agitations," says author Ankit Desai.

It is worth mentioning that earlier novels like 'Train Tales' and 'Digitally Yours' were written in Gujarati by Ankit Desai and have received a tremendous reception from the readers. Ankit Desai's novel 'Athamto Ajwaas' was also nominated for the National Awards of the Government of India.
