Shatrughan Sinha opens up on 'Boycott Bollywood' trend
Boycott culture is very rampant in the Bollywood industry and many stars as well as films have been victims of it. The trend affected the box-office business of some films as well. More recently, Laal Singh Chaddha, Liger, Brahmastra, Raksha Bandhan and even Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan became a victim of the cancel culture.
Reacting to the Boycott Bollywood trend, Shatrughan Sinha said, "Social media is very powerful these days. This is very unfortunately. Things have been especially difficult after Covid-19. The space that was created during Covid days helped give rise to social media. People got a chance to make their voice heard on social media. People write ugly stuff sometimes, and you don't know them in case you want to stop them. The troll army is sitting there purposely to speak against you. In such a case, many of our own people become victims of it. There are also times when a film, which supposedly would not have done well, got attention just because a lot of controversy was created around it."
Sinha spoke about the boycott trend culture while attending a channel press event in Kolkata.
