ACB nabs PHED officer, 3 others in Rs 10L bribe case

Jaipur: ACB on Monday arrested the Chief Engineer and a contractor of PHED while taking and giving bribe of Rs 10 lakh. The bureau had received tip-off from the informers that Manish Beniwal, the Chief Engineer posted in PHED Urban, is going to take a huge amount from the contractor Kajod Mal. ADG Dinesh MN kept monitoring the entire operation from the ACB headquarters. Later in the day, the bureau also arrested two Junior Assistants Shafiq Mohammad and Vinod Kumar. Two Scorpio, one Innova and a modified Gypsy were recovered from the residence of Manish Beniwal.

After the ACB arrested Chief Engineer of PHED Manish Beniwal and a contractor taking and giving bribe of Rs 10 lakh, the bureau broadened the trap and arrested two more staff. ASP Bajrang Singh of ACB carried out the trap action. On the basis of questioning from the accused, the bureau arrested Junior Assistant Shafiq Mohammad and Junior Assistant Vinod Kumar at the Office of Additional Chief Engineer Public Health Engineering Department, Jaipur. They were being questioned till late Monday night. During the search of the residence of the accused Shafiq Mohammad at Topkhana Ghatgate, the bureau recovered more than Rs 6 lakh in cash. Around Rs 3 lakh and documents were recovered from Vinod Kumar’s residence at Sanjay Nagar, Panipech. Raids have also been conducted in Ajmer’s Panchsheel Colony office. Searches were conducted at the residences and more than 6 places of the accused. ADG Dinesh MN kept monitoring the entire operation from the ACB headquarters. Later, the bureau also arrested two Junior Assistants Shafiq Mohammad and Vinod Kumar. Two Scorpio, one Innova and a modified Gypsy were recovered from the residence of Manish Beniwal.
