Can Cong give message by holding polls?

New Delhi: There is every possibility of elections for the new president of the Congress party this time. If elections are held and there is a contest between leaders outside the Nehru-Gandhi family, then the country’s oldest party Congress can give a message of internal democracy through it. It is nonsense that if elections are held, the party will break or Shashi Tharoor is being contested under some conspiracy. If the party has to break, it will break anyway. In the states, the party is breaking down. If big leaders are leaving, then it is not right to not hold elections in this concern or talk about consensus for the post of president. It seems that Sonia Gandhi has made up her mind to get rid of the charges of dynasty to some extent by holding elections this time.

That is when it is being said that she gave the green signal to Shashi Tharoor to contest the elections. It is also possible that Shashi Tharoor has been asked to fight on behalf of the party high command. Making a leader of Sonia’s own choice as party president who is loyal to the family, without conducting an election, does not give the message which will be given by the election between two leaders. Everyone knows that if Ashok Gehlot contests elections and gets support from Gandhi family, he will win with a big margin. Despite this, having an election would create his legitimacy and impose his moral authority. So, if Tharoor is fighting on the behest of anti-family leaders in the party, then it is also good and if he is contesting on the signal of the Congress’ ‘first family’, then too it is good. It is always a better option to hold elections than to impose a president.
