Is Akhilesh on the path of bête noire Mayawati?

New Delhi: National President of the Samajwadi Party (SP) Akhilesh Yadav made a wonderful statement recently. He talked about not getting the invitation of Congress for Bharat Jodo Yatra and distanced himself from it but at the same time said that the Congress is also like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He made another interesting point that the Samajwadi Party has a different ideology. However, leaving aside the matter of ideology, even the attack he made on Congress by calling Congress like BJP is astonishing. No one asked him since when has the Congress become like the BJP? Obviously it must have happened only after 2017 because in 2017 it was not like the BJP, that’s why Akhilesh had coordinated with the Congress and ‘two boys from UP’ came out to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party.

However, the way he attacked the Congress, the question has arisen whether he too will follow the path of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati? Mayawati has been describing Congress as the Bharatiya Janata Party for a long time. She has been helping the BJP in one way or the other for some time now. Her inaction has resulted in transfer of BSP’s vote to BJP and in the last elections their candidates helped BJP. Is there some unknown reason why Akhilesh Yadav is keeping distance from opposition unity and indirectly ensuring that the Bharatiya Janata Party wins the elections? Or is it the reason that he is worried about Congress or he is feeling that Congress can make a comeback? By describing Congress as BJP, he is making SSP the sole contender for the minority votes of the state. It is possible that he has attacked the Congress in the concern of Congress benefiting from Rahul’s yatra.
