Kartik Aaryan and Anurag Basu on board for ‘Aashiqui 3’!

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Aashiqui was a superhit for its beautiful songs and the amazing chemistry between the lead couple, Anu Aggarwal and Rahul Roy. The same happened when the 2013 standalone sequel Aashiqui 2 came out with Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.  Now, fans were eagerly waiting for the third part and wanted to see another couple bring out some sizzling chemistry on screen. However, despite many speculations and rumours, the film never went through. But now, it has been revealed that there will soon be an ‘Aashiqui 3 with none other than Kartik Aaryan!

Taking forward the musical franchise started by Shri Gulshan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt, the team is all set to reignite the magic of love story and music with the much anticipated third instalment.

The film will be directed by Anurag Basu but the female lead has yet to be confirmed by the makers. Kartik told, “The timeless classic ‘Aashiqui’ is something I grew up watching and working on ‘Aashiqui 3’ is like a dream come true. I feel privileged yet grateful for collaborating with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I’ve been a big fan of Anurag Basu’s work and collaborating with him on this one will definitely shape me in many ways.”

Producer Mukesh Bhatt said, “Evening of 16th Aug 1990, a day before Aashiqui’s release, Gulshanji and me were very nervous, the next day records were broken and history was created.  Today with Bhushan, Pritam, Anurag and the heart rob of the nation Kartik, I assure everyone that Aashiqui 3 will celebrate love like never before.”

Producer Bhushan Kumar said, “The movies whose storyline and music etched our hearts, its time to relive it again! We are ecstatic to announce Aashiqui 3 in collaboration with Mukesh Ji, directed by my all-time favourite Dada Anurag Basu. The film is sure to have a fresh side to it while retaining the true essence! We couldn’t have found an actor better than Kartik, a true rockstar in all sense after the massive hits he has delivered; he truly fits a T! Music plays an integral part in this romantic musicale, along with Pritam we aim to raise the bar higher. Director Anurag Basu said, "Working with Vishesh films is literally like coming home and I am glad directing Aashiqui 3! Previously there were rumours that the hit Student of the Year jodi, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt would be the lead couples of the third instalment. Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan already has several projects lined up for release including Ala Vaikunthapuramaloo’s Hindi remake, Shehzada with Kriti Sanon, Hansal Mehta’s Captain India, Shashanka Ghosh’s Freddy, and Satyaprem ki Katha with Kiara Advani among others
