Mamata didi’s Delhi tour will be her penultimate ‘political test’!

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress President and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to visit Delhi for four-five days. She is expected to reach Delhi in the middle of the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament and just before the Vice Presidential election. This time her Delhi tour is expected to be different from before. In fact, her visit this time around is like a political test. This visit will show what kind of politics she will do in the coming days. Mamata is on the back foot with the arrest of her party’s number two leader Partha Chatterjee and the recovery of a pile of notes in the ED’s action at her close ones.

This is the first time that Mamata’s stance has loosened. Instead of supporting Partha Chatterjee, she removed him from ministerial post and all party posts. At the same time, it also said that the Trinamool will not raise any question on the punishment given to Parth according to the law. Informed sources say that over Rs 50 crore cash and Partha Chatterjee has been sacrificed to save Abhishek Banerjee and his wife. The decision not to vote in the Vice Presidential election is also being said to be part of the same bargain.

That’s why this time Didi’s visit is very important. According to sources, she will reach Delhi on August 4 and will stay till August 8. During this, there is talk of her meeting Sonia Gandhi on August 5, i.e. Friday. The next day is the election of the Vice President. The question is, will Mamata change her mind after meeting Sonia Gandhi and her MPs will vote in favor of Congress candidate Margaret Alva? In fact, the most important meeting of Mamta’s visit to Delhi this time is to be with Sonia and only after this meet will it be known the strategy under which Didi will take her politics ahead. This time the CM of West Bengal will attend the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, which she had earlier boycotted. This meeting is to be held on August 7 under the chairmanship of the PM. Mamata, who has been showing rebellious attitude in the meetings convened by the central government till now, is attending the meeting of NITI Aayog, which is believed to be a sign that she is not in the mood to increase further confrontation with the government. Then how can it be expected that she will do the politics of opposition and work out a strategy with Sonia Gandhi? In the situation she appears to be in, she is unlikely to work for opposition unity. However, in this possible five-day visit, she is scheduled to meet all the leaders from Sharad Pawar to Akhilesh Yadav and K Chandrashekhar Rao.
