NEW CHIEF SECRETARY COMMITS A FAUX PAS ON TWITTER

Lucknow: IAS Durga Shankar Mishra, who unexpectedly made an entry from Delhi like a superhero in the Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy, has become a hot topic of discussion in bureaucratic circles.

Just two days before retiring, Mishra was named the Chief Secretary of UP and the very next day he assumed his new responsibility, along with a one-year extension in service. However, it is his sudden disappearance from Twitter that has raised speculations.

Mishra had put up a post on his Twitter handle, @Secretary_ MoHUA, informing that he had assumed charge as the new Chief Secretary of his home state of Uttar Pradesh on December 30 and that now he would remain in touch with all through a new Twitter handle, information about which he would soon make public.

On his tweet, congratulations started pouring in from all over including from former IAS Surya Pratap Singh, who wrote, ‘Congratulations DS.

I trust and hope you will fulfill your responsibilities with all fairness and impartiality proving all doubters wrong. Wish you and your family a very Happy New Year’. To this, Mishra replied to his senior, ‘Definitely, Sir. Thanks.’

Now, former IAS Surya Pratap Singh has been a harsh critic of the Yogi government, which has resulted in slapping of 7 cases on him by the UP Govt.

Mishra had replied to him on his earlier official Twitter handle, that of the Secretary, Union Ministry of Urban Development, where now the new officer Manoj Joshi’s name has come.

However, Mishra has not yet appeared on the Twitter handle of the Chief Secretary of UP. There is speculation if his reply to the congratulations from former IAS Surya Pratap Singh will weigh heavy on the new chief secretary and will it determine the shape and tone of his official tweets in the future.
