SHOCKING! Ranbir on portraying a grey character for the first time

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Ranbir Kapoor has delivered several top-notch performances and has never shied away from donning a quirky role. Right from a dumb and deaf character in Barfi, a mentally unstable youth in Tamasha or to accurately portraying Sanjay Dutt in the biopic ‘Sanju’, Ranbir has pulled his characters to the T. Now, the actor is currently shooting for the Sandeep Reddy Vanga gangster thriller, Animal, which will showcase the actor in grey shades for the first time.

Revealing more details about the character, the actor had shared that he will play a gangster for the first time with Anil Kapoor, essaying the role of his domineering father. The actor further stated that he was stunned when he listened to the script and that this role would be the most shocking part he has done in his entire career. Adding that he is afraid to join the sets again, the actor said, “It is a great opportunity for me as an actor. No one expects me to do such a role. I hope the audience is ready for that film from me.”

He further revealed how he had to bulk up for this role. Talking about his transformation, the actor said, “I had to put on a lot of muscles.” He stated how the physicality added to the rough and grey personality of his character in the film.

Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga stars Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. It is slated to release on Independence Day next year.
