UP govt seeks info from civic bodies on IAS posts

Lucknow: After posting of IAS officers on the cadre posts of PCS, the UP govt has sought information from all the municipal corporations and authorities about the posts created on the basis of the rules. PCS officers are also opposing the posting of IAS officers to the post of Municipal Commissioner, VC and CDO. Most of the posts of Municipal Commissioner and VC and CDO in Development Authorities are the post of PCS Cadre. There are 17 municipal corporations in Uttar Pradesh in which no PCS officer is posted as municipal commissioner. Out of 17 municipal corporations, commissioners in 13 corporations are direct IAS officers while promotee IAS officers are posted in four municipal corporations. The promotee IAS officers who are posted as commissioners are Avinash Singh in Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation, Sanjay Chauhan in Moradabad Municipal Corporation, Santosh Kumar Sharma in Shahjahanpur Municipal Corporation and Vishal Singh in Ayodhya Municipal Corporation.
