Will Nitish and Tejashwi agree to form a 7 party coordination committee?

New Delhi: The current Bihar government has the support of seven parties. Although only four parties are involved in the government, a total of seven parties are in the coalition government. Three communist parties—CPI, CPM and CPIML—have supported the government from outside, while JD(U), RJD, Congress and Hindustan Awam Morcha form part of the government. Running an alliance of seven parties is not easy in a politically volatile state like Bihar. But since the number of these two parties, JD(U) and RJD, also exceeds the majority, neither party is in a position to exert pressure.

Nevertheless, for the last few days, there is a discussion that a coordination committee should be formed, which will help in the operation of the coalition and the government. This demand is especially from the three communist parties, which are not part of the government. They feel that through the coordination committee, they will be able to keep an eye on the work of the government and take some decisions according to their agenda. Former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party Hum and some Congress leaders have also pointed out the need for a coordination committee. In fact, the message among the leaders of these five small parties is that the government is of JDU and RJD. All the work is being done according to these two big parties, which is true to an extent. Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav are ready to form a coordination committee.
