With Cong Prez being ‘elected’, perhaps party wouldn’t mind to elect its WC too!

New Delhi: Since the ‘election’ of the Congress President will be conducted soon, similarly, following the same lines, if even half of the working committee members are elected, it will be even better for the party. The members of the Working Committee have not been elected in Congress for a long time. According to the Congress constitution, out of 23 members of the Working Committee, 12 members will be nominated by the Congress President and 11 members will be elected. Madhusudan Mistry, the head of the Congress’s election authority, has also announced this. If there are more than 11 nominations for the remaining 11 members in addition to the 12 nominated members, then voting will be held. After Sonia Gandhi became the Congress President, for the first time in 24 years, the members of the Working Committee may be elected. Although the delegates who elect the working committee will be of the choice of the Cong President, therefore the leader of the President’s choice will be elected, despite this, it will be a good thing to have an election. Before this, the last time the members of CWC were elected was in 1997 in the Calcutta session. From Pranab Mukherjee to Sharad Pawar and Ahmed Patel to Arjun Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Madhav Rao Scindia, Jitendra Prasad and Tariq Anwar, everyone was elected president.
