17-yr-old ST-2 tigress critical, chances of survival are bleak

Jaipur: Sariska’s ‘Rajmata’ or the queen, ST2, is struggling with old age & injuries. A Forest Dept team received information about ST-2 being in an unconscious state on August 9 following which field director Roop Narayan Meena and DCF Devendra Jagawat reached the spot & took stock of situation. They consulted Dr Arvind Mathur and other veterinarians. After consultation, ST-2 was tranquilized and brought to enclosure. Her condition is stable but she has wounds in front legs. The tigress is aged over 17 years and is left with less strength in hind legs.

In such a situation, the Forest Department team is trying to feed her in enclosure itself. There are a 16 members in the ST-2 family. There are a total 24 big cats in Sariska out of which ST-2 alone has 16 family members.
