25L cases settled by Lok Adalat this year: Justice Birendra

Jaipur: This year’s 4th National Lok Adalat was held on Saturday in both offline and online mode. Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Justice Birendra Singh in HC premises here. Justice Birendra Singh informed that a total of 480 benches were constituted where nearly six lakh cases were chosen for hearing. Lok Adalat, jointly organised by National Legal Services Authority and Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, took up matters related to Negotiable Instruments Act, money recovery cases, labour & employment related matters, electricity-water, matters related to maintenance, matrimonial disputes, accident tribunal cases, land acquisition, revenue matters among others.

“Lok Adalats are the best means of resolving any dispute through mediation,” said Justice Birendra Singh. Notably, in the last three National Lok Adalats held this year, nearly 25L cases were settled through consent.
