3 RU student leaders climb atop water tank

Jaipur: Three students of Rajasthan University climbed the water tank on Saturday demanding extension of students’ union election date. They had petrol bottles and a noose around their necks and they threatened to end their lives if their demand was not met.

Later the three agreed to get off the water tank and talk with the University Registrar. The university is sending a letter to the government mentioning their demand. After getting a written assurance, the three students will get down from the tank.

A police team along with the university administration was stationed on the spot. Student leaders Narendra Yadav, Manu Dadhich and Rahul Meena climbed the water tank on Saturday afternoon.

Yadav said that the elections should not happen until the admission process is completed. “We won’t come down and if we are coerced, we will commit suicide,” he said.
