Jodhpur: The team of Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday arrested a Patwari in Jodhpur taking Rs 25.21 lakh from a man, DG ACB BL Soni said in a statement. Birbal Ram Bishnoi, posted as Patwari at Punjala of Jodhpur, had demanded a bribe of Rs 50 lakh in lieu of getting the land mutation done and providing other related documents, Soni said. The ACB officials said that the accused Patwari had earlier demanded a plot and later sought money matching the cost of a plot. ACB SP Dr Durg Singh Rajpurohit said that the complainant Manoj Gwala, a resident of Maderna Colony, told ACB that to get the map of his land and other documents, he met Patwari Birbal Ram posted in Mangra Poonjla Patwar area. In a similar bribery incident in Jaipur rural, the ACB team arrested Chandrabhan, Patwari of Morija in Chomu, redhanded taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. The accused was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 in lieu of opening a land title in the revenue documents. The accused was arrested in the municipality office where he had come to attend a meeting.
