GEHLOT GOVT PRESSES TAX PEDAL TO COLLECT REVENUE

Jaipur: After recovering from Corona, the Gehlot govt has tried to improve the revenue health of the state through tax collection. The situation of the financial condition of the state has been described in the report of FRBM from April to September of the current financial year. Although the debt of the government has increased by Rs 44,391 crore in the 6 months, but during this time the tax collection has tried to hold economy. The Revenue deficit in the first half of 2022- 23 was Rs 14,384 crore, which is 61.24% of the estimated revenue deficit for the entire financial year 2022-23. In such a situation, increasing revenue deficit is also a separate concern. The govt’s salary, allowances and pension expenses are not reducing. Out of the total revenue expenditure, 29.89% would have been spent on salaries and allowances. An amount of Rs 29,718 crores was spent in April-September 2022. While Rs 12,724 crores i.e. 12.80% of the total expenditure was spent on pension. It means more than 42% of the expenditure on salary, allowances, pension in the total expenditure of the govt.
