Illegal colony rising in eco zone, no action yet
Jaipur: Land mafias have been brazenly constructing illegal colonies in the state capital, even within ecological zones. The latest case has come up on main Samaria Road near Kanota, where an unauthorized residential and commercial project, named Narendra Mohan Nagar, is underway.
Despite being situated in an ecological zone, the project features 370 residential plots alongside a staggering 480 commercial shops— outnumbering the residential spaces.
The colony has been developed on land owned by two influential families of Jaipur, one of whom is a prominent former landholder while the other is a powerful political family.
Local land mafia, including one known as patwari, is involved in the establishment and sale of this illegal colony. Even with numerous complaints filed, no action has been taken against the violators, showcasing the helplessness of the JDA in enforcing regulations.
The illegal colony spans approximately 25 bighas, with access points from 200-feet main Samaria Road Kanota railway station. Basic amenities such as parks, drainage and road infrastructure are absent.
