Man gets wife killed for Rs 2 cr insurance money

Jaipur: A man got his wife murdered through a road accident to get insurance claim of Rs 1.90 crore in Jaipur. The woman Shalu along with her cousin brother Raju was going to a temple on a motorcycle on the request of her husband on October 5 at around 4.45 am when an SUV hit her, leaving her dead on the spot while Raju succumbed to injuries during treatment. Family members thought that it was a road accident but police suspected the accident theory and probed the matter from all angles. DCP West Vandita Rana said on Wednesday that Shalu’s husband Mahesh Chand had got her insured sometime back for a period of 40 years. The insured amount was Rs 1 crore on natural death and Rs 1.90 crore on death in accident. Mahesh and Shalu were married in 2015. After 2 years of marriage, they had disputes and she also filed a case of domestic violence in 2019. Mahesh hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her and hired a history sheeter Mukesh Singh Rathore who demanded Rs 10 lakh and got Rs 5.5 lakh in advance. Mukesh involved other men in this task, police said.
