NEW VARIANT IS GRIM, SAYS KATARIA OVER LUMPY SPREAD IN BUFFALO, DEER

Jaipur: Replying to a debate on lumpy skin disease among the cattle in the Vidhan Sabha, Animal Husbandry Minister Lal Chand Kataria said that the disease has spread among buffaloes and deer, too. “In Haryana, many buffaloes have been infected. We have increased the speed of vaccination. Experts of the Animal Husbandry Department have said that the disease will see a decline after the monsoon ends. The new variant of the virus is a cause for concern,” he said. Kataria said that the migrant Rajasthanis sent money to fight the disease among the cattle. The Bhamashahs who helped are being charted and we will honour them. Dismayed by Kataria, BJP MLAs staged a walkout. The LoP expressed displeasure over not getting assurance of action against those who were negligent and said that when the lumpy virus was detected in April, the department did not act. “Someone should be held responsible,” they said and walked out. “In Haryana, many buffaloes have been infected.
