Power crisis to loom large in Raj again as 2-4 days of coal stock left

Jaipur: Power crisis may deepen in Rajasthan where the coal stock of two to four day is left in the major power plants in the state. 2 days coal is left in Chhabra Thermal plant while the stock for 3 days is left in Chhabra Super Critical power plant, Kalisindh Thermal power project and Suratgarh Super Critical plant and four days of coal stock is there in Suratgarh thermal power plant. The situation has increased the worries of the officials of the energy department and they are in touch with the central government officials to ensure adequate coal supply. The demand of electricity is constantly increasing in the middle of Rabi season and has crossed 1600 MW. At the same time, some units of Rajwest and Vidyut Utpadan Nigam are closed. Urja Vikas Nigam is trying to purchase power from the exchange but due to non-availability of adequate electricity from, the power cuts have started again. Rural and urban areas are facing one to two hours of power cuts. Officials said that efforts are being made to keep the block supply of the farmers uninterrupted.
