WOMAN SHOT AT IN JAIPUR FOR MARRYING MAN FROM MINORITY
Jaipur: A married woman sustained grievous bullet injuries after she was shot from a close range by unidentified assailants in the Murlipura area on Wednesday. Police informed the victim has been identified as Anjali Verma, a resident of Murlipura. “The victim works at an ayurvedic medicine company, located at Road No 5 in the Murlipura area. On Wednesday morning, two unidentified men came on a two-wheeler and shot Anjali from behind while she was on his way to the office. She immediately fell on the road and was rushed to Kanwatia Hospital in a bloodied condition,” said DCP (West) Vandita Rana. “In July 2021, the victim had an inter-caste marriage with Abdul Latif. The victim’s husband, Abdul Latif, had left his home in Bhatta Basti and started living in Murlipura with Anjali. This led to resentment among his family members. It may be possible that the family members of Abdul had attacked Anjali to kill her. The FSL team has taken samples from the spot and CCTV footage is being gathered to nab the accused,” added DCP (West) Vandita Rana. According to Latif, his family members did not approve their marriage and his elder brother Ajeej could be behind the attack.
