Makeup is Passion

Makeup is all about enhancing Passion features as it gives spectacular glow to the charisma. City First spoke to Akanksha about her journey.

Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Akanksha Sharma and I am from Delhi. I have done MBA and I am an entrepreneur by profession. I am the founder of the brand Islay.

I was very fond of makeup since the time I was in college. I was known for my unique appearance as makeup was not that popular those days. I would blowdry my hair and keep myself prim and proper to the best of my ability in college.

What challenges did you face in this industry?

The journey was not at all smooth for me. I come from a business background but none of my family members has ever been into something such as makeup. I always knew that I am not meant for a job. I dreamt of opening my own business. However, creativity, patience, determination and hard work helped me carve my identity.

What inspired you to become a makeup artist?

I feel my mother is my inspiration for I have taken after her. She is also very fond of dressing up. I would observe her while she did her makeup and imitate her later. I am a perfectionist just like her when it comes to dressing up.

Where do you see yourself after five years?

I wish to open a chain of my studios across the globe along with a line of my signature makeup products. I already have a brand ISLAY which deals with beauty and clothing. I know all my dreams will be fulfilled by the blessings of god and my family.
