Music: Passion & Purpose

To produce music that makes the hearts beat and the feet tap is a craft that few are graced with.

One such genre is EDM music, popularized in the 70s but is finding its ground in India now, through DJs like Abhishek Gupta aka DJ Nuclear, an EDM music producer & DJ.

Based in Lucknow, Abhishek is ranked 29th all over India in the Delhiites top 50 DJs award 2022. He's a music producer who has worked in Bollywood, Tollywood as well as the Punjabi music industry. Currently, working with Sarwar & Sarthak Khan of Dangal, Petta, and KGF 2 fame, he has also made an official remix for Veen Ranjha (a Punjabi song by T-series). In conversation with City First, DJ Nuclear talked about his journey, struggles and fame as a music producer.

Talking about how he started, Abhishek said, “I loved music from the start. I used to listen to remixed songs at weddings and was curious to know how they were made. Through the Internet, I found some tutorials and started mixing songs on Virtual DJ (a DJing software). And after learning about a Digital Audio Workstation called FL Studio there was no turning back from making remixes & the original songs I made.” DJ Nuclear commented on the current scenario of EDM music and DJ in India and said, “Every music is good if it's inspiring people positively. In India, still, the majority don't know about EDM music & DJing but the scenario is changing due to global exposure to all kinds of music through social media and the internet. And I think our country is getting used to DJs and EDM music.” Speaking about his struggles, the DJ said, “It was a tough one when I told my parents I want to be a music producer & a DJ. Sure they were supportive but they had their doubts as music is a dynamic industry. I couldn't go to Mumbai for formal education in music, but I did not give up. Everything I wanted to learn and do, I did through the internet. And my main motive to come into this industry is to prove that they can make their career in any field they want no matter where they are from.”

Lastly, the DJ shared pearls of wisdom for aspiring DJs and said, “You will fail & get rejections but no matter what, don't give up your craft. Always have the will to learn, be patient with a positive mindset, and spread love & peace with your art, your T time will come, trust me.
