Tell us something about yourself?

I am Nishant Rawat and I am also known as BCKSPCE to a lot of people. I am a music producer, DJ and a night life influencer based out of Delhi, India. I have also just finished my Masters in marketing and finance. I have been in this field of work since 9 years and my project BCKSPCE was officially launched in 2017. I am a self taught music producer.

Is DJ’ing a mainstream and financially stable career in India yet?

I would not state that way it’s not stable as this field has so much potential for personal and financial growth. We just need a bit more awareness and brand building for this career in India so that a child wanting to follow this path is supported more in family. And also people actually working in this field to be well read and aware of the field to stand strong grounds for their recognition and rights.

All this in work, this profession would do wonders.

What are the kinds of opportunities you get after being a DJ?

Being a DJ surely gives a lot of opportunities. To begin with, you can get a stable job by being a resident DJ to a club. But can also explore and learn more with freelancing for different clubs.

Also, with the knowledge you get playing for clubs you get more rhythmic aware and can go towards being a music producer which opens a lot more doors like working with studios, give score music, work a sound designer and also may get opportunities to give your music in movies or OTT.

Your message for people who want to make their passion their profession?

Most important never stop learning. In the current time, we have a lot of options to learn at home, internet has given us that. Start with that and even after achieving your goal, still focus on learning more and new. On this path, don’t just run behind money and fame but behind your passion truly and things will follow.
