A young Fashion Designer, Deepika Khatri is making India proud on an international platform. After winning “Fashion Designer Mentoring Program Hessen’ 2022”, Frankfurt Germany. Now she is all set to present her next collection of Khadi and Lucknow’s Chikankari at ‘Frankfurt Fashion Lounge’ an event of Frankfurt Fashion Week’ 2022 runway show on Wednesday, June 22 in Frankfurt Germany.
Born and brought up in Lucknow, UP, Deepika Khatri wants to promote the hand artwork of Lucknow. She says, when we talk about sustainability it means that everyone should be able to sustain themselves. We need to make sure that artisans who do hand work should be fairly paid. They all should be empowered so that they can keep this hand art alive.
While researching for a project after completing her graduation in “Bachelor Of Knitwear Designing” from “National Institute Of Fashion Technology (NIFT)” Bengaluru she came to know about the hard-hitting facts of the fashion world. This is when she realised that there is a need to make a positive change in the society for ’Slow Fashion’, where we try to avoid producing clothes in bulk and focus on Made-To-Measure designs for the customers.
