The Art Extraordinaire

Art leads the world in ways of inspiration, admiration and appreciation. The role of art and the artist is to provide the world with a perspective unique to the common eye and likeable to those fond of craft.

The Lucknow Metro Railway Corporation (LMRC) on Saturday inaugurated a fiveday summer workshop cum Art-Exhibition at Hussainganj Metro Station.

The first day was dedicated to the opening ceremony of the event, followed by a musical evening. The event was inaugurated by Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, UPMRC along with Guest of Honour, Squadron Leader (Retd.) AP Singh, chairman of Disable Cricket Council of India. As a sign of respect and gratitude, both the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor were accorded mementoes.

Day 1 of the 5-day event saw a beautiful exhibition of paintings by the late artist Sukhvir Singhal. The exhibit by the artist saw 15 paintings (portraits) painted using the technique of Wash Painting.

Most of his paintings were inspired by the countryside and landscapes. The exhibition prevailed under the aegis of the artist's daughter and granddaughter, Dr Stuti Singhal and Priyam Chandra, respectively.

During this 5 Days Summer Workshop cum Art-Exhibition, Fine Arts with Wash Technique will also be taught by Dr Stuti Singhal to the underprivileged children. A medical and dental check-up camp will also be organized for the well being of the children.

At the inauguration, Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, UPMRC spoke about the LMRC's exhibition. He said, “Lucknow Metro along with providing world-class services to the people, is committed to providing a platform to its artists and children of all the age groups. This five-day workshop cum exhibition is one of the initiatives which will surely provide these artists and underprivileged children the much-needed motivation. It will provide them with an opportunity to harness their potential in the right direction”.

The evening then moved on to a musical note where a local band, ‘The Initials’ captivated the audience with their music. The band scattered the colours of music and beatboxing by artist Ved and Mandolin by Piyush whereas the trio performed a symphony on guitar.
