Magh Purnima is known to be a day of the full moon that occurs during the Hindu calendar month of Magh. This day falls during the Gregorian calendar month of January or February. Magh Purnima this year falls today, and City First got in touch with one of the country’s renowned Meditation Expert and Yagyacharya, Nirmala Sewani. The expert will be conducting Mantramaya Collective Meditation at Dune Safari Camp at Jaisalmer, in association with Avighnam Global.
Why specifically on Purnima?
The full moon is strongly intertwined with the practices. Moon is part and parcel of our life, and it affects the nearby surroundings and the environment of living individuals. In conjunction, the moon affects ocean water and has high and low tides due to this phenomenon.
Also, diseases like filaria and mental health issues like insomnia, depression, anxiety attack, and stress among others, have an impact on individuals because our bodies constitute seventy percent of water content.
Why have you chosen Jaisalmer this time?
I have chosen Jaisalmer this time because the sand dunes during a full moon night is an experience out of the universe. No flashlights are required with the dunes bathed in ethereal white light. In the beautiful landscape with a special light and a gentle, desolate surface is so auspicious, that even the deities cannot resist themselves coming to mother earth. So, it’s a perfect place for an individual, who wants to meditate.
Can one also meditate alone at night at home?
Yes, one can do that- it’s called mindfulness observation. That’s when you just watch your body and get out of the rest of the world. The environment, the sound of your breath, and the ground below may become much more aware of you, for example. This will cause you to experience a calmness you never had before. When we do not have stress and nothing worries our minds, we fall better asleep, and it’s so clear. You can completely clear your thoughts and let oneself go to bed freely from today’s burdens. When it comes to execution, there is no clear way to consider it.
