CM says govt working hard on plugging tax leakages
Jaipur: Urging the entrepreneurs to provide constructive suggestions to the government in order to give pace to economy, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that the state government is working hard on plugging leakages in tax collections.
Emphasising that the entire country is ‘facing the situation of economic slump’, Gehlot has asked the industry to play a big role.
“The state government is taking several steps to promote industries and more efforts will be made for fair provisions in the forthcoming State Budget to make the economic atmosphere better,” he said and invited suggestions from the entrepreneurs.
Gehlot was addressing the state-level tax advisory committee meeting at the state secretariat on Friday. He said the revenue collection in GST remained below expectations due to which the states did not get much funds out of their share.
“Also, the Centre has reduced subsidy for various schemes, which is affecting the development works. In such a scenario, industrial development can only increase the prosperity of the state,” he added.
CM assured that the entrepreneurs and businessmen paying their taxes honestly would not face any issues. “Several important policies, new laws and schemes had been implemented to promote industries and a better atmosphere has been created for the industries to grow and develop. In the forthcoming State Budget too, industries would be well taken care of,” he added.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary DB Gupta said that the state government made efforts to make Rajasthan the best destination in terms of investment while Additional Chief Secretary Finance Niranjan Arya said that after evaluating the suggestions received from the entrepreneurs, the fair and constructive ones would be included in the budget.
Representatives of different industrial organisations gave their suggestions on the budget in the meeting. They unanimously said that despite adverse conditions, the state government has extended sufficient support to the industries during last one year. Entrepreneurs within and outside Rajasthan were praising the state government’s efforts such as announcement of Agro-processing, Agri-business and Agriculture Export Promotion Policy, Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy, RIPS, Chief Minister Small Industries Promotion Scheme and the MSME Act among others.
