Gehlot, Pande fondly remember Kavi Pradeep

Jaipur: It was a befitting programme organised in remembrance of legendary poet Kavi Pradeep, who has had a great impact on post-independence culture at the Birla Auditorium on Thursday.

The Dada Saheb Phalke awardee was remembered on his 105th birth anniversary at a glittering ceremony where Congress leader Avinash Pande, the late poet’s pupil, said that Kavi Pradeep’s character and actions were similar to Mahatma Gandhi. “Listening to his songs will fill your hearts with the feeling of nationalism. This programme will enable you to understand Kavi Pradeep’s thoughts,” said Pande.

Songs like ‘Aaj Himalaya ki choti se hamne lalkara hai’, ‘Chal Chal Re Naujawan’, ‘Sabarmati Ke Sant’ amongst various others were sung, that garnered huge applause from the audience.

Speaking to the audience while shedding light on the poet’s life, Pradeep’s daughter, Mitul Pradeep, said that her father always mentioned Gandhiji in his poems and songs. Mitul also gifted a book published by Pradeep Foundation titled Ek Deep Kavi Pradeep.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also reached the function and spent memorable moments listening to Pradeep’s creations. Since he reached after the function had started, a small documentary on Pradeep was replayed for Gehlot.

The Congress stalwart was visibly moved by the efficacy of Pradeep’s words and after the event ended, Gehlot reached the stage and met with the singers and congratulated them for their performance.

Notably, earlier in the day on his arrival at Jaipur, Pande addressed media and said, “Kavi Pradeep has written extensively on Gandhi even though he was connected with the film industry. He has been my ‘Guru Pita’ and I was closely connected with him.” Meanwhile, Pande also spoke on political appointments and said that these could not be done due to model code of conduct.
