Jammu : The state lost one of its true sons of the soil in a unprovoked firing by Pakistan on Sunday. The martyr Rajiv Singh Shekhawat was posted in Poonch district of UT of Kashmir as Lance Nayak in 5th Rajput regiment. Rajiv fought bravely before being injured.
He later succumbed to the serious injuries while being treated. CM Ashok Gehlot tweeted that he saluted the martyr for his sacrifice and was with the martyr’s family in the hour of grief. Jaipur (rural) MP Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and local MLA Indaraj Gurjar too reached the martyr’s village Luhakana Khurd and condoled the bereaved family.
Col Rathore said that the sacrifice own’t go wasted. Martyr Rajiv was just 34 year old and had joined army in 2002. He has left behind mother, father, wife and two kids. Rajiv’s father himself a retired Nayab Subedar informed that Rajiv had his birthday on 18th February. The CO of Rajiv Shekhawat’s unit had earlier called and informed the family of his bravery & martyrdom. The family, naturally, could not comprehend with the tragic news and are being treated by local a doctor.
As the news spread it was a state of deep remorse for everybody and even strangers stared flocking in the martyr’s village wile the local traders closed their shops in respect & grief. The local administration and police were also present there alert for the last rites and other arrangements. The mortal remains of martyr Rajiv Shekhawat will reach his village on Monday morning. The body will enter the village with a tricolor procession.
