Jaipur: Nearly 55,000 farmers, including 15,000 from Jaisalmer, have faced damages in the locust attacks on crops. Despite which, state government delayed immediate girdawari and the affected farmers have not received compensation yet. Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said on Wednesday during her two-day visit to Barmer and Jaisalmer.
Raje added that Barmer and Jaisalmer were to get a budget of Rs 20.47 crore and Rs 25 crore respectively, but government has delayed it. Raje also paid condolences to the family of famous industrialist and social servant late Tan Singh Chauhan. After which, she visited MLA Mevaram Jain after the death of his mother. She also paid tribute on the death of district Sanghchalak Pukhraj Gupta.
Raje also visited the fields to take stock of the crop damage caused by the locusts.
