Jaipur: Jaipur too now has its own Shaheen Bagh. It has been seven days since indefinite dharna started at Shaheed Memorial. People in large numbers have been sitting in protest against CAA and NRC and the number has been growing with each passing day.
Just like Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh here too majority of protesters are elderly Muslim women who are accompanied by children, who bring their school bags to complete their homework.
The protesters have found support from the ruling Congress as its MLA from Kishanpole, Amin Kagzi came to the dharna site on Tuesday. He said that the Congress government has passed a resolution in the Assembly against CAA and it will not be implemented in Rajasthan. He asked the Centre to withdraw this Act so that people can live peacefully.
A medical camp has been set up here where needy people have been provided free medicines.
Many leaders have been joining the protesters to express solidarity with them. Among those who came on Tuesday, were president of Jat Mahasabha Rajaram Meel, Sanyukt Valmiki Safai Shramik Sangh’s Nandkishore Dandoria, Jaipur City Valmiki Panch Committee’s Kamal Chand Chanwaria and president of Boddh Mahasabha T C Rahul. Christian community was represented by father Paul, father Vijaypal and father J K Sharma.
