The word of ‘She’

On the third and final day of Woman Up! Summit, 2019, at Hotel Grand Uniara, there were several interesting sessions held by eminent speakers from various industries like healthcare, NGO, culinary, Bollywood, among others. A mentoring session, ‘Living and Leading with Balance’ by Bhavna Toor also took place, followed by a storytelling performance of ‘Chui Mui’ by actress Shashwita Sharma.

One of the sessions,‘Unstoppable Achint’, witnessed TV and film actor, Achint Kaur saying, “The #MeToo Movement is being misused by women in the film and TV industry to get publicity. The women who have actually faced harassment have not spoken about it because they do not want to upset their parents or children. Today, banks and corporates have internal laws whereby women are supposed to report of any misbehaviour within one year of the incident and that is the right way.”

The day began with a motivating session in which Khatoon Begum shared her life’s story and motivated women to form self-help groups and helping the households by taking care of the expenses.

Followed by this was Indian celebrity chef, Shagun Mehra who shared her journey of being a successful chef and a multi-project entrepreneur and said that she is a firm believer of making optimum utilization of life. In the session, ‘Chai, Sari, Cancer’, Regional Head of The Max Foundation, Viji Venkatesh talked about how she came to work in cancer patient care. On the occasion, founder, curator and producer of the Woman Up! Summit, Mita Kapur delivered the vote of thanks.
