WB Governor’s security to be under Central forces

Kolkata: The security for Raj Bhawan in West Bengal will now be manned by the central security forces following the review of the threat perception by Home Ministry.

A four-member team of CRPF has already visited Raj Bhawan to take stock of the situation and discussed various aspects of security that is to be provided to Governor Jagdeep Dhankar who enjoys Z category protection.

The centre’s decision has already sparked off a lot of accusation and counter arguments between BJP and Trinamool with the later terming it as “unprecedented”. However, state unit of BJP backed the decision on grounds of perceptible threat to the Governor.

Trinamool congress and the Governor are now caught in an unceasing rounds of slug fest with the Governor maintaining that he follows the rules by the book and the trinamool advising him not to undermine the constitutionality of his position. It all started with the Governor’s daring mission of rescuing Babul Supriya in Jadavpur University. Not stopping there, Governor had expressed anguish over the “ blackout “ of his programme at Durga pooja carnival.
