When youth seek jobs, govt asks them to watch Moon: Rahul Gandhi

The Congress leader also said that while the government keeps on speaking about Article 370 and the Moon, it, he said, is silent on the problems that are plaguing the country.

Latur: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP led government at the Centre at a rally in Maharashtra’s Latur ahead of the assembly election. At the rally, Rahul Gandhi brought up the moon mission to attack the government, saying that it tried to distract the attention of the people from the core issues. He was addressing a rally at Ausa in Maharashtra’s Latur district for the upcoming state polls. Maharashtra is going to polls on October 21. The votes will be counted on October 24.

The Congress leader said when the youth ask for jobs, the government tells them to watch the moon, in an apparent reference to ISRO’s recent lunar mission, Chandrayaan-2. He also sought to know if Modi, during his recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, asked the latter about the 2017 Doklam standoff.

He was referring to the alleged incursion of Chinese troops into the Indian territory in 2017. He said, “It is not Make in India but Make in China.”

The Gandhi Scion said, “When youth ask for jobs, the government tells them to watch the Moon. It is the work of the media, PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to distract people’s attention from core issues.”

The Congress leader also said that while the government keeps on speaking about Article 370 and the Moon, it, he said, is silent on the problems that are plaguing the country.

“Who got the benefit of demonetisation? Nirav Modi ran away. PM Modi says ‘hang me if the demonetisation did not benefit anyone’ but who got the benefit of it?” he asked, adding, “Sending a rocket to the Moon would not put food in the stomachs of the people of Maharashtra.” He said the objective of demonetisation & implementation of the GST was to loot the poor and give it to the rich.
